Our client a large contract research laboratory are looking for an experienced Analytical Chemist to join their team.



The Role

This position is responsible for the determination of a wide range of inorganic parameters in metal and mineral analysis employing a variety of analytical instrumentation. 

Prepare and analyse samples of various commodities based on method requirement.

Maintain and develop quality of analysis within QA/QC guidelines to ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 17025:2005 standards.

Operate and maintain standard laboratory equipment/ instrumentation.

Liaise on technical issues with senior Laboratory Management and promote team ethics.

Mentoring junior laboratory staff.

Promote good awareness of Health and Safety regulations relating to Laboratory environment.

Inform Laboratory Management of issues that may affect Quality or Turn-around Time of samples.

Quality Control; process samples through the laboratory within company guidelines.

Routinely use standard laboratory equipment during the course of analysis.

Develop knowledge of instrumentation such as required (AAS, pH meters, ICP, XRF. Titrators).

Organise and plan daily workloads to meet Turn Around Times (TAT’s)

Develop knowledge of metals and minerals qualities.

Contribute to, monitor and update advancement in related methodology.

Undertake other responsibilities as and when required and in accordance with the seniority of the position.




Due to the nature of the role we are looking for someone who is educated to degree level or holds a HNC/HND qualification in a scientific related subject. A thorough understanding of AAS, pH meters, ICP, XRF. Titrators… is a must. Experience of quality services and the factors involved in delivering a quality service to ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 17025 standards.

This is a shift based role - M-F, 6-2, 2,10. Shift allowance for this role is £2,700
